Figleaves' core activity is the sale of branded intimate apparel in major home shopping markets world-wide. The term intimate apparel is used to include bras, lingerie, swimwear and nightwear for both men and women. Today's focus is on the UK & US markets and the company has shipped to over 70 countries. Figleaves aims to offer the best selection of branded underwear, in more colours and sizes than any other retailer in the world. Next day delivery, with no quibble returns and quality customer service make the online proposition irresistible. The company is well established with its own call centre, distribution system and ambitious plans for global expansion.
In January 2000, Figleaves chose Badger Software to develop a Sales Order Processing system, to handle the rapidly increasing flow of orders. The system was implemented using Visual Basic and SQL Server and combines a rich user interface with a robust and high-performance back-end database system. It integrates seamlessly with other Figleaves systems, including Credit Card Payment and Warehouse Management.
"The Sales Order Processing system developed for us by Badger forms the core of our customer service operations. Its successful installation and reliable operation has undoubtedly made a huge contribution to our reputation for excellent customer service." Technical Director, figleaves.com
In 2003, Badger Software developed a new .NET based Global Logistics Management (GLM) application for Figleaves, replacing their existing Java-based software. This application went live in the new Figleaves' warehouse in September 2003, and within a very short time they were seeing dramatic increases in productivity. The software has been designed to provide maximum flexibility and extensibility, so that as the company moves forward with its expansion plans, they have a technology solution that is able to cope. Proof of the scalability of the solution was demonstrated in 2005 when GLM was extended to Figleaves' new warehouse in Ontario, Canada, servicing the North American market.
"As a result of the improvements in reliability and increase in operational efficiency, our investment in .NET technology has already delivered a 40% increase in productivity, matched by a 30% reduction in costs." Daniel Nabarro, Chairman, figleaves.com
